Galleria Tornabuoni | Florence
Tornabuoni Arte was born in 1981 in via Tornabuoni in Florence, thanks to Roberto Casamonti's passion for art; passion inherited from the father collector of Italian art of the twentieth century. Over the years the gallery, in addition to the main headquarters in Lungarno Cellini in Florence, inaugurates the exhibition venues in Milan (1995), Forte dei Marmi (2004), Tornabuoni Arte Antica (2006), in addition to the foreign branches of: Crans Montana in Switzerland (1993), Paris (2009), London (2015).
The exhibition activity in the various galleries develops in organizing an annual collection every year with the aim of presenting a selection of great international artists of the twentieth century (such as: JM Basquiat, Christo, J. Dubuffet, V. Kandinsky, H. Hartung, V. Lam, S. Matta, J. Miró, P. Picasso, S. Poliakoff, A. Warhol) together with the main historical artists of the Italian artistic reality of the first and second twentieth century (among which we remember: G. Balla, A. Boetti, A. Burri, E. Castellani, M. Ceroli, G. De Chirico, P. Dorazio, L. Fontana, P. Manzoni, M. Marini, G. Morandi, A. Pomodoro, P. Scheggi ). During the itinerant annual exhibition in the various galleries personal exhibitions of historicized and emerging artists are held together with themed exhibitions, focusing attention on the avant-garde of the post-war period.
Today Roberto Casamonti, together with his children, continues his research and in-depth study both as regards the historicized and most significant experiences of twentieth century art, and as regards the new contributions of contemporary artists (P. Atchugarry, A. Furunes , O. Galliani, M. Ohanjanyan, F. Pasquali, G. Pontrelli).
The gallery is present annually in the major contemporary art fairs such as FIAC in Paris, Tefaf in Maastricht and New York, Art Basel in Basel, Miami Beach, Hong Kong, Frieze Masters in London, Arte Fiera in Bologna, Miart in Milan. Collaboration with museums and foundations is constant.
