Opened in September 1986 with an exhibition by François Morellet, Oniris Gallery has become over time one of the most important places in contemporary art in the western part of France. The gallery represents nationally and internationally renowned artists such as Vera Molnar, Aurelie Nemours, François Morellet, Norman Dilworth, Geneviève Asse, Christian Bonnefoi, Alain Clément, Philippe Cognée, Jean-Pierre Pincemin or Claude Viallat and others to re-discover. For more than three decades, the history of Oniris Gallery has revealed the particular attention given to the study of contemporary art in the field of abstraction - through painting, drawing and sculpture - with a basic philosophy: to regularly exhibit the recent work of a group of about thirty artists. Established in Rennes since the very first day, Oniris has built a solid reputation thanks to the successive presentations of its artists, which the gallery regularly invites to a solo exhibition. Far from its base, the Oniris gallery has regularly participated in international contemporary art fairs for more than 25 years in Paris (Fiac, Drawing Now, Art Paris) and in other countries (Germany, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland and the USA). Since 2012, Florent Paumelle has been leading the gallery with the aim of respecting the relationship between the work of established artists and that of a young generation of emerging artists who share a common conceptual language.
