Alice Black is a contemporary art gallery co-founded by Alice Black & Matt Symonds on May 2017. Located in Soho, London, the gallery works with both emerging and established artists.
The gallery is taking its spot among the most refreshing, insightful and determined new galleries in London.
Alice Black aims to create a more direct interaction between the artist and the viewer. Its exhibitions tend therefore to stimulate an aesthetical and intellectual dialogue with the visitor.
As such, the gallery plays the role of consultant, connector and curator. Its mission is to reconsider the more traditional relationship between artist and collector and to establish a new boundary where the public is closer to the creative process. The core of this boundary is a more fruitful interaction characterized by a spirit of openness, cooperation and exploration.
Alice Black has previously held positions at Stephen Friedman Gallery and Phillips AuctionsHouse. The co-founder Matt Symonds is an investor and art collector who is a Board Member of Nottingham Contemporary and Patron of the Royal Academy of Arts.
