Sergio Padovani

Born in Modena in 1972 where he lives and works, in 2011 he was selected for the 54th Venice Biennale, Italian Pavilion, Turin regional section; in 2016 for the Biennial of drawing in Rimini. His works are present in the most important collections both in Italy and in Europe and permanently at the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art of Imola, at MACS of Catania, at the Michetti Museum (CH), at the Estense Gallery of Modena, at the MCA of Camo (CN), at the Ruggi d'Aragona Museum (CS), in the prestigious The Bank Contemporary Art Collection.

A visionary painting, when the visions are however diabolical, the result of the sin and breakup of a civilization. A dark painting, of a raw dream reality. A painting that does not leave the eyes indifferent. Sergio Padovani, of this enigma, gives us no key. It gives us no solutions, descriptions, or explanations. It only provides us with a crazy, hallucinated, labyrinthine inner evocation, to help us continue to play hide and seek with the mystery of reality and with its obscure, a thousand contradictions and facets.
