Luca Tommasi is glad to announce a first solo show in Italy by English artist Phillip Allen. The exhibition "Deepdrippings" represents a selection of paintings that embodies the recent evolution of artist's poetics. Bringing the language of painting to its extreme limits, Phillip Allen's style remains "constructive". The painting exists in its materiality, becoming a real object, a sculpture - painting. The expectations of the visitor, however, are systematically disregarded: the relationships between the frame and the painting are redistributed, the idea of the background is canceled by saturation, margins and center merge into an "egalitarian" distribution of space. "I like the idea of dissolving myself in the painting process," says Allen. The main reference for the artist in elaboration of his poetry was the concept of "acoustic space" developed by Marshall McLuhan that describes the functioning of mass media, not only those that use audio but also the image and the written word. In the "acoustic space" all the senses are stimulated simultaneously, without allowing an analytical use of the message.
