Dead Horse Bay
Channel to Channel presents Brooklyn-based artist Marcus Manganni’s first solo show at Channel To Channel, Dead Horse Bay. The immersive installation involving sound and video. Referring to the enchanting yet extremely polluted water body in the Brooklyn Rockaways, Dead Horse Bay contains interactive media projections that visually explore the site and its eerie history. Once home to horse rendering plants, the beach became a landfill in the 1930s and continues to leak trash into the ocean today. Manganni was a featured artist in the 2019 Young Collectors Contemporary at Crosstown Arts in Memphis, TN and was included in MOCAN’s first pop-up show in 2018. He is best known for his large scale sculptures including “Bending Normal” located in the front lawn of the Packing Plant. Manganni’s work often uses reflective surfaces that both alter and incorporate the surrounding environment.
