Serena Fineschi was born in Siena (Italy) in 1973. She lives and works between Siena and Brussels. She studied at the Institute of Art “Duccio di Buoninsegna” in Siena, she continued her education in Graphic Design in Siena, Florence and Milan; she also studied Contemporary Art History at the University of Siena. She is one of the founders of Grand Hotel, a nomadic project in collaboration with numerous artists. She also formed the cultural association Fondaco, a project aimed at the diffusion of contemporary Italian art and artists in the international sphere. In 2016 she created Caveau, a safe built into the medieval walls of Siena to serve as a container for ideas. Her research is an unceasing, extenuating investigation beneath the surface of things, which she always faces and examines by “subtracting”, looking for a transformation beyond the apparent image of the skin of objects and materials.
