Exuding an uncanny intensity in his art, Japanese artist Satoshi Hashimoto aims to create works that pull powerful reactions from his viewers. In doing so, his art makes a lasting impact to underline the formative moments that art can provide.
Often creating dynamic installations that call upon viewers for activation, Hashimoto works to create a space that encourages deep contemplation about humanity and experience in the modern world. Emphasizing the impact of these experiences through the tension-inducing sense of suspense, Hashimoto recalls for his audiences the rush of excitement that can come from a viewing of artwork.
Born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1977, Hashimoto has enjoyed a growing appreciation for his work over the years. A recent exhibition of his work, entitled “NIGHT-TIME = DARKNESS,” was on view at Hans & Fritz Contemporary in Barcelona, Spain, in 2018.
