Artist biography

Shtainer was born in Israel in 1982 and now lives and works in Berlin. Shtainer graduated in 2009 from the Department of Photography at Wizo Academy of Design, Haifa, Israel. In 2015 she completed the master’s program at the Ostkreuzschule, Berlin. Shtainer had over 40 solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Israel and USA including the National Portrait Gallery, London and Hearst Gallery NY. She was participated on the project “art vending machine” at the Jewish Museum, Berlin and was invited as a curator project to the “International Photography Festival” in Israel. Her works are published and reviewed in many international publications including “Dente Di Fotogra”, “Der Spiegel”,“brennpunkt”,“The marker”,“Artberlin”, “Berlin Quarterly” and many more. She is also winner, honourable mentions and finalist of numerous international competition, fellowships and awards including Julia Margaret Cameron Award, MIA Portfolio Review, Hearst 8x10 Biennial, IPA, America Israel Cultural Keren Sharet, Shpilman Scholarship for photography. She is represented by the Hezi Cohen Gallery, Tel Aviv. Podbielski Contemporary Gallery, Berlin.
