Pushing the expectations of the materials that he incorporates into each work, British artist Matt Ager pairs found materials with an eclectic combination of unrelated materials that nevertheless come together to create a new sense of visual harmony.
Breaking the rules of space and composition, Ager conjures novel forms and experiments with new concepts to create a body of work that resonates with the spirit of pure creative investigations. Hybrid combinations give way to important questions on the relations between form and expression.
Born in the United Kingdom in 1985, Ager earned his BA at Camberwell College of Art in Maine in 2011 and subsequently continued his studies at the Royal Academy Schools in London from 2012 to 2015. Since then, Ager has enjoyed ample opportunity to showcase his work. Recent exhibitions include “Suzuki Montage” at the Space in Between in London (2015); “Gusto” at Studio Leigh in London (2016); and “Oh I Know Why” at Sundy in London (2018).
