Focused on the concept of constructing and presenting geographic, political, forgotten, or revered places Luca Vitone works in the intersection between art and place. Fascinated with the creation of place through cultural production like art, architecture, politics, and cartography his paintings and installations could be considered landscapes -- places created from found materials. With mediums including waste, food, and beverages Vitone has also been known to step into more participatory forms by creating itineraries of lesser-known parts of cities.
Born in Genoa, Italy in 1964, Luca Vitone studied at Bologna’s Discipline delle Arti, delle Musica, e dello Spettacolo before moving to Milan.
Luca Vitone has taken part in national and international collective exhibitions throughout the last several decades. He has exhibited in noted institutions such as New York’s PS1, Casino Luxembourg, Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery of Bergamo, and the 2003 and 2013 Venice Biennale.
