Pushing the ultimate bounds of the painted surface, Danish artist Lars Christensen creates a dynamic array of canvases that incorporate a dappled, dimensional surface of crystalline projections.
Christensen builds up these exciting spaces to draw visual attention to the role of art as its own organism or living entity. In doing so, Christensen draws intriguing parallels to interconnectivities between art and nature in ways that haven’t been fully explored before.
Born in Denmark in 1972, Christensen attended the Designskolen in Kolding, Denmark from 1990 to 1995 and also studied at the College of Art and Design in Leeds from 1994 to 1995. Since those days, Christensen has enjoyed ample opportunities to exhibit his work. Recent solo showcases include “Reduce/Extent” at Bendixen Contemporary Art in Copenhagen, Denmark (2012); “Black/White/White/Black” at the Anne Mosseri-Marlio Galerie in Basel, Switzerland (2015); and “Curved by Air” at the Anne Mosseri-Marlio Galerie in Basel, Switzerland (2017).
