Never a slave to a single medium, Kasper Hesselbjerg has explored numerous artistic disciplines -- from painting and photography, to sculptural installations incorporating light and rabbits. Exploratory and playful, Hesselbjerg’s work engages with the relationship between reality and a dream world of imagination full of childhood images and themes. Exploring paradoxes and skewed observations, his work is about how we interpret meaning and is borne through the lenses of art history, philosophy, sociology and semiotics.
Born in 1985, Hesselbjerg attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 2007-2013. Hesselbjerg has shown his work in both solo and group exhibitions in cities around the world including Copenhagen, Venice, Odense, Malmö, Paris, and Beijing.
He has held residencies at the Qingyun International Art Center, Beijing; Institute for Provocation, Beijing; Apexart, New York; San Cataldo, Scala; and the Cité international des Artes, Paris. He currently lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark.
