John Anthony Ash was born in 1932, grew up during the 1950s and was inspired by the artistic atmosphere of the time. During the Post War period, New York City became the international focus for Modernism. During the Second World War, many artists had made their way to the city after having fled in exile from Europe, which culminated in a merging and amalgamation of talent and ideas.
