Gail Albert Halaban was born in Washington, DC, in 1970 and currently lives and works in New York City. After graduating from Brown University she was awarded an MFA in photography from Yale University. She has taught at various prestigious institutions including Pasadena Art Center, the International Centre of Photography as well as at Yale.
Her work has been shown internationally at collective and solo exhibitions, the most recent being the recent solo show at George Eastman Museum, Rochester, NY, which featured photographs from all over the world from her Out My Window series. In summer 2019, the gallery, Edwynn Houk, will present another solo exhibition of her work.
Three books have been published on Albert Halaban’s work: Out My Window (PowerHouse, 2012), Paris Views (Aperture, 2014) and Italian Views (Aperture, 2019).
