Fault Lines

Artist biography

The product of years of study and innovation for international fashion brands, Fault Lines was established in 2015 by the mastermind Matthias de Vogel and specializes in innovative textile designs.

De Vogel’s years in the fashion industry primed his most recent exploration of the materials and patterns. Pulled into focus not as a ready-to-wear fashion but rather as a framed work of art all its own, his creations for Fault Lines speak to the powerful play of geometry. Drawing patterns that borrow from historic traditions alongside revolutionaries of modern art, the creations of Fault Lines add to these legacies with their play of surface texture and dimension.

Raised in the Netherlands, de Vogel attended the Utrecht School of Arts. While there he studied fashion and subsequently pursued a graduate degree in fashion from the I.F.M. in Paris. Following a whirlwind career in fashion that carried him to various noted studios, including his extended tenure at Levi Strauss, de Vogel now focuses his attentions on Fault Lines’ projects.
