Artist biography

Décamp has spent part of his life in the Jura region, as a forestry worker. He is a self-taught artist, close to Art Brut, and nourished with a kind of surrealistic dark humour. It is a work accident that brought Décamp, 10 years ago, to dive into artistic practice – curative in the first place. The materials he uses often have an autobiographical meaning : wood, lead, bones, like felt and fat in Beuys’ œuvre.

While exorcizing his own life, Décamp bares a universal message : that of the urge to change Man’s poisonous relationship to Nature.
