Using the ever-expanding realm of digital media to express his creative visions, British artist David Blandy uses his art to explore how modern technology informs and influences our entire outlook on the world.
Working across traditions as diverse as photography and film to large-scale installations and performances, Blandy showcases throughout these projects his inherent fascination with the conceptualization of the self in the midst of the technological and media melee that is our modern world. In doing so, he hopes to invite the viewer of his work into an unfettered exploration of the contemporary, collective unconscious.
Born in 1976, Blandy earned a BA from the Chelsea College of Art in 1998 and subsequently completed an MA in Fine Art Media at the Slade School of Art in 2003. Today, Blandy splits his time between London and Brighton and enjoys the frequent exhibition of his work in a wide variety of locales, including his late 2019 showcase, “The World After” at Focal Point Gallery at Southend-in-Sea. Blandy is currently represented by Seventeen Gallery in London.
