Inspired by the innovators of the modernist movement, German artist Anselm Reyle beguiles his audience with sculpture and paintings that break the rules of the painted surface and dazzle the eye.
Blending together traditional media and the precision once felt in the work of the Hard Edge generation with found bits of shiny materials like foil or glitter, Reyle transforms his compositions into seemingly impossible spaces where color and reflection dominate. By doing so, Reyle offers a refreshed – and often playful – take on the ways in which abstraction and color can revive contemporary artistic practice.
Born in Tübingen, Germany, in 1970, Reyle is based today in Berlin. In addition exhibiting his work in various locales, Reyle made a splash on the international design scene in 2011 when he partnered with Dior to design a series of accessories.
