Challenging the bounds of layering in his works, Swedish artist Alfred Boman evokes an incredible array of patterns, textures, and materials in each of his tantalizing works.
Focusing on the meticulous process of each work, Boman throws himself into the construction of the composition to the point that his art becomes strikingly dimensional. With each layer of paint, Boman builds the dimension of his work; scattered throughout, however, are hints of the subsurface seemingly far below.
Born in Luleå, Sweden, in 1981, Boman studied at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, before earning an MFA at HFBK Städelschule in Frankfurt, Germany. He has enjoyed the showcase of his work in a wide variety of venues. Recent exhibitions include those at Prism, Los Angeles; Fluxia, Milan, Italy; and Ibid Projects/Gallery Exit, Hong Kong. Boman today splits his time between Stockholm and Berlin.
