Originally founded as the online art gallery Flying Rooster Contemporary Projects (FRCP) in 2012, Galerie Youn opened as a brick-and-mortar space in May 2013. Located on Boulevard Saint-Laurent in the heart of the dynamic and creative Mile End district of Montréal, the art gallery focuses on building bridges between local, national and international emerging to mid-career contemporary artists.
It currently represents two dozen artists, about half from Canada and the rest from the United States, Europe and Asia. In its short few years, the gallery has participated in more than a dozen art fairs across Europe and North America, from Seattle to Miami, New York, and Madrid. The gallery presents a number of carefully selected solo and group exhibitions each year.
Galerie Youn and its artists have drawn extensive attention in the press; for instance, a work by its artist Hugo Alonso was featured on the cover of the New York Times Magazine in October 2017.
As of 2018, our book catalogs are part of the permanent collection of the Thomas J. Watson Library, the central research library of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
