Founded in 1989 by Celine and Heiner Bastian, Galerie Bastian has been managed by Aeneas Bastian since 2016.
The focus of the exhibition program is on 20th century artists such as Pablo Picasso, Jean Dubuffet and post-war German and American artists such as Joseph Beuys, Anselm Kiefer, Cy Twombly, Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol.
In addition to the exhibitions, the Bastian gallery has published numerous catalogs, monographs and catalogs of works. The gallery takes as in international art fairs MASTERPIECE London, Art Berlin and Art Dusseldorf.
From 2007 to 2019, the BASTIAN gallery presented a program in its exhibition house on Museum Island that was devoted to both classic modern and contemporary art. The Bastian family donated their house Am Kupfergraben to the State Museums in Berlin in early 2019, which established a center for cultural education there that opened on September 1, 2019. BASTIAN operates offices and a private showroom in Berlin-Dahlem, which is open by appointment.
The London gallery opened on February 1, 2019. It is located at 8 Davies Street in Mayfair. Since opening, the gallery has shown solo exhibitions with works by Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly and Ulrich Erben.
