Beeld en Aambeeld Galerie
The Beeld & Aambeeld gallery on Walstraat in Enschede, the Netherlands, has been organizing exhibitions of both 'wall art' and 'jewelery in showcases' since 1979. It indulges work by professional artists and hosts eight exhibitions per year, preferably in a combination of a visual artist and a jewelry designer.
There is also a myriad stock of paintings, mixed media, graphics and jewelry. Galerie Beeld & Aambeeld is a consistent initiator and participant in large-scale projects and organizes exhibitions at other locations, at home and abroad.
Companies and Individuals approach the gallery for advice on collection, restoration, promotional gifts, framing and hanging art. The gallery owner Karel Betman promises authentic mediation.
The artists' file of the gallery includes eighty artists from both disciplines from home and abroad, most of whom regularly exhibit in the Beeld & Aambeeld gallery.
With the visual artists, the emphasis is on lyrical-abstract and abstract-expressionist contemporary painting. The majority work in mixed techniques, but the 'pure' painters, sculptors, draftsmen and graphic artists are also included. The works of the jewelery artists show strong examples of real goldsmith's art: contemporary, very special designs, executed in precious metals or combinations of noble and base materials.
An exhibition is made once a year, fully devoted to jewelery to bring extra eyes to this art. The month of December is traditionally the jewelry month.
Martha Haveman passed away on 25 July 2014. More information about the work of Karel Betman can be found on this website.
