Barbara Wien Gallery was founded in 1988 by Barbara Wien in Berlin Germany. From the beginning, the gallery program was shaped by interest in the revolutionary artistic concepts of the 60's and their further development. Following the close collaboration with Dieter Roth and Tomas Schmit, the gallery established a diverse showcase of exhibitions, with accompanying publications from the likes of; Arthur Köpcke, Robert Filliou, Emmett Williams, Hans-Peter Feldmann and many other artists from the European conceptual art movement.
Barbara Wien represents internationally successful artists of different generations such as; Georges Adégabo, Eric Baudelaire, Nina Canell, Mariana Castillo Deball, Jimmie Durham, Hans-Peter Feldmann, Ester Fleckner, Luca Frei, Ian Kiaer, Dave McKenzie, Elisabeth Neudörfl, Peter Piller, Vaclav Pozarek, Michael Rakowitz, Dieter Roth, Tomas Schmit, Shimabuku, Ingrid Wiener and Haegue Yang.
Since 1995, the gallery has taken part in international art fairs such as; Art Basel, Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Basel Miami Beach, Frieze Art Fair London, Frieze Art Fair New York, Arco Madrid, and the Armory Show New York among others.
Accompanying the gallery, there is a bookshop that provides artists' books which encompass years from the 60's to present and also includes several rare books.
