PHotoEspaña 2020 - Christian Voigt
For a long time, Christian Voigt has been reflecting empty spaces in his photographs. With nothing, with nobody. This year, our world has literally been left empty, suspended in time and space for weeks. This need that the photographer had to show temples in the form of casinos, cathedrals, museums, libraries, always unoccupied, static; that insistence on approaching an uninhabited nature… seems premonitory today. Because in all these images the presence of a human being is intuited, it is perceived in a sensitive way. But it is a veiled presence due to the being of nature. Dunes collects many of these ideas suggested by the work of Christian Voigt. It recognizes the strength of a nature that moves freely and that has a presentiment of a human reality, always being challenged to survive in inhospitable environments. Consciously or unconsciously the photographer builds surprising comparisons between his visual intention and our now. His photographs become bridges that remind us the way to a context of silence, of reflection, of deep emotions.
