Hubert Wurth | Mockba
Viewing room of the (closed down) Exhibition at Valerius Gallery "Hubert Wurth | Mockba 1989-1992". It shows a selection of small works and large-scale works on canvas as well. The selected small works on paper are all framed.
Between January 1989 and December 1991 Hubert Wurth was Luxembourg's last ambassador to the Soviet Union. It was the era of the opening, during which the works of the great masters of the Russian avant-garde of the early 20th century finally appeared in the Moscow exhibitions, which totally changed the world of art. Suffocated by Stalin, this art has rarely been shown. Hubert Wurth was delighted with this discovery under those new conditions, and his own artistic work of those three years reflects a special atmosphere. Having been an artist then and being an artist still today, he now (2020) showed the works he made in Moscow for the first time in an exhibition. This work is part of his russian series and inspired by the Russian Avantgarde.
