Exhibition for Drawing Room 2020

Opting for painting in an era when everybody thinks they’re a photographer. Believing in the possibilities of portraits as a medium for stories- this artist has always preferred to avoid a narrative quality in his works- in a moment in which the “selfie” has inundated everywhere and trivialized everything. Preferring neutral backgrounds, when what’s popular today are more or less intricate backdrops on which a figure stands out, giving rise to snapshots, all of them with the same caption: “I, and nobody more than I, I was there, I liked that, I got bored like that.’ There is no doubt that Salustiano (Seville, 1965) is a creator going against the current, not allowing himself to be pulled along by what’s trendy and basing his endeavour on solid, and unyielding principles which he has reached himself, despite the passage of time.
