Fascinated by the different dimensions of a painting - which is de facto flat but also has an apparent spatial depth - Phillipe Lardy designed fragments of certain works that nestle into the space as free, floating elements. The colorful segments, which cannot be labeled as paintings nor as sculptures, sometimes manifest solitary on the wall but can just as well merge together as a whole. Because of their simplicity and abstraction, these works represent silence and tranquility, contrasting with the often narrative and rich character of Lardy’s illustrations.
