Booth C8 : Jane Lombard Gallery

Jane Lombard Gallery presents a booth featuring artwork by Jane Bustin, Sarah Dwyer, Lee Kit, Carmen Neely, Elizabeth Schwaiger and Howard Smith.

Have you ever touched an object so soft you could swear it was breathing, or beheld an image so lush you could see its pulse? Art Critic Lance Esplund compares art to biology, with the notion that just as cells are the building blocks for the human body, an artwork’s points, lines, colours and tensions are the building blocks of its life. We relate to art through its human qualities; emotion, energy, breath, movement, tension, vivacity and a strong will to live. In the creative process, artworks act as artifacts of ritual, imbued with the ardor and care of those that made them, moving beyond their basic physicality and into the realm of the conscious. The works featured in the booth embody this vitality as, exercises in tactility, exploring reflections of the familiar (memory, nostalgia, comfort and discomfort) through a visceral use of color, texture and presence.
