For the exhibition, Behncke has created an installation where scale and the physical staging of rooms challenge the classic gallery experience. The exhibition also shows new works that explore scale and space. The Russian wooden doll Babushka or Matryoshka, a doll with precisely scaled-down dolls inside, has been a source of inspiration for the exhibition. Søren Behncke has created an installation, where you move into the gallery’s exhibition space, which contains the exhibition space in a smaller version, which in turn contains a room in a smaller version. In each of these spaces, Behncke’s works are adapted to each room and its size. So – a room in a room in a room. The sensory experience and physical staging of spaces form the framework for Søren Behncke’s exhibition at Charlotte Fogh Gallery.
