Tjorg Douglas Beer
1973 · Germany
German artist Tjorg Douglas Beer works across the media of collage, sculpture, and painting to conjure fragments from a futuristic reality not that distinct from our own.
From compositions whose collaged surfaces build up a tangible tension to disembodied heads seemingly dressed in effigy, Beer’s art has a decidedly sober yet sophisticated sense that thereby underscores the artist’s own depth of thought when conceiving new works.
Born in Lübeck, Germany, in 1973, Beer splits his time between Hamburg, Berlin, and Athens. He has enjoyed the showcase of his work in a wide variety of international locales. Recent solo exhibitions of his work include “Diamonds and Bones + The-New-World.TV” at the Kunstraum Innsbruck (2010); “Princess Utopia” at ph - projects / Produzentengalerie Hamburg in Berlin (2011); and “Snow in the Jungle” at Martin Asbaek Gallery in Copenhagen (2012).
