Thomas Reinhold was born in Vienna. Between 1974 and 1978, he studied under Herbert Tasquil at the local University of Applied Arts. In the late 1970s Reinhold and his companions Erwin Bohatsch, Siegfried Anzinger, Alfred Klinken and Hubert Schmalix founded the 'Neuen Wilden', a leading group of avant-garde artists.
His works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Austria and abroad. Examples of his artistic output are included in public collections such as the Albertina and the Galerie Belvedere in Vienna, the Museum der Moderne in Salzburg and the Lentos Kunstmuseum in Linz. In 2010 the artist spent three months in Shanghai and was awarded with the 'Preis der Stadt Wien' in the following year.
