Tetsuya Fukushima explores the boundaries between contradictions such as chaos and order, natural and artificial, construction and destruction, dream, and reality. He believes these contradictions are balancing each other somehow by the unknown current, which makes the world as it is. Fukushima blurs those boundaries by simplifying motifs and symbols, and by modifying the shapes and color. Fukushima has been mainly focusing on mixed media painting, but he also creates three-dimensional works by combining various materials and utilizing both digital and traditional techniques. His art varies from concept-driven artworks to more spontaneous paintings, drawing inspirations from various sources such as geometry, art history, and Pop culture.
