Born in 1929, Siegfried Cremer was predominantly influenced by the 1930s. on a global scale this period can be best characterised by the clash between the world’s leading political philosophies - Marxist Socialism, Capitalist Democracy, and the Totalitarianism of both Communism and Fascism. The era assumed a sinister turn with the dawn of National Socialism in Germany, and Adolf Hitler’s rise to power in 1933. The decade would culminate in the inset on the Second World War; a political and social uproar that preoccupied not only artists, but great swathes of the global population.
