Born in 1912, Pravos Martinek's creative work was largely inspired by the 1930s. Globally this period can be best characterised by the duelling of the world’s foremost political philosophies - Marxist Socialism, Capitalist Democracy, and the Totalitarianism of both Communism and Fascism. The era took a sinister turn with the advent of National Socialism in Germany, and Adolf Hitler’s rise to power in 1933.
