Artist biography

Pietro Geranzani puts the stress mark on the awareness of the Present and of the Past, referencing a wide plethora of historical sources to create paintings that offer a critical view on a restless and uncertain Contemporary.
The neo-expressionist influences of his early years in the eighties, mentored by Gianfranco Bruno at the Accademia Ligustica of Genoa, gave way to a more symbolist painting that reworks various iconographies, from classicism to primitive art.Taking inspiration from his passion to Wunderkammer, his art, rendered with oil on canvas technique not afraid of using a thick impasto and sometimes adding raw materials as clay, fur and raw metals, are therefore polymorphic and polysemic figures.
