Malin Gabriella Nordin
1988 · Sweden
Malin Gabriella Nordin’s work is about feelings, feelings that arise and are released through the process of creating. She is interested in how colour and shape influence each other and their surroundings, how tension and balance emerge depending on the composition of the work. Nordin’s aim is for the work to feel complete but still remain full of possibilities.
Painting, illustration, sculpture and illustrations can all be found in Nordin’s body of work. Her colours and composition are emotive and dynamic. Though abstract in nature, her works often evoke familiar references and she interweaves a great deal of elements from the natural world. Her approach is highly intuitive – when she feels too comfortable with a particular idea or method she abandons it and moves on to something new.
Born in Stockholm in 1988, Nordin moved to Norway in 2010 to study at the Bergen Academy of Art and Design, where she received her BFA in 2013, after which she moved back to Stockholm. Recent exhibitions include Beyond, Within at Mini Galerie in Amsterdam (2017).
