Karin Hoffman's painting explores Human destiny and sufferings. Raised by her Polish grandfather deported in Auschwitz, her personal history brings a work which is articulated around the concepts of absence, vacuum and lapse of memory, challenging the impossibility of such representation. By the presence of transitional objects in the space of the canvas, she tries to create the disorder by questioning the viewer. Do these withdrawals give to see the residues, the mysteries of a passage? If something has place, what could it be? Boards, fire, smoke, tools are indication of crimes which one will never know the meaning.
