Danish sculptor Jørgen Haugen Sørensen calls upon his innate skill as a sculptor to conjure a dynamic array of forms that vacillate between their parallel of – and distance from – reality.
Largely self-trained in the art of sculpture, Sørensen uses his sculpture as a means for social commentary. Conjuring forms that recall the human figure yet that also deviate from it, Sørensencreates through his body of work a space in which the viewer can contemplate the nature of abstraction and the materiality of his media.
Born in Denmark in 1934, Sørensenhas enjoyed ample opportunities to showcase his work. Most recently, his work was included in the Normann x Brask Art Collection in Copenhagen and Grønningen 2019 at GL Strand in Copenhagen.
