1980 · Denmark
Known for her fantastical compositions that mix references and colors into whimsical displays, Danish artist Ida Kvetny bounces between media to consider the ultimate bounds of artistic practice.
Experimenting with fields such as sculpture and animation yet having produced a substantial amount of painterly works, Kvetny captures a sense of spontaneity in her work that serves as a quite compelling quality. This patchwork like quality of her work – one that gives the sense that she has woven together various threads with surprising ease – also conveys a narrative quality, as if the viewer can explore each element as they weave their own tale.
Born in Odense, Denmark, in 1980, Kvetny earned her BA from the Edinburgh College of Art in 2006 and subsequently completed her MFA at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London in 2007. Today Kvetny is based in Copenhagen and, since graduating, she has been an avid exhibitor of her work. Recent showcases include “Mixed Media” at Galleri GL in Lejre (2016); “Technical Images” at The Leroy Neiman Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2017); “Paintings and other bad habits” at Charlotte Fogh Gallery in Denmark (2018); and “Peoples Filmfestival 2019” at the Harlem VR lounge Expo in New York City (2019).
