Heini King, from Finland, is a mixed-media artist based in London. She studied Fine Art at Aalto University of Art and Design, Helsinki and completed her MA in 2020 at Central Saint Martins. She has recently exhibited at Tate Exchange, Rich Mix, APT Gallery and Imperial College London.
Heini’s paintings, mixed-media work and performance is informed by psychoanalytic theory and the notion of self in relation to others. Work is often inspired by encounters with the other, with dreams and with memory: both darkness and utopia-like lightness are present, and they seek balance. In the work there’s a strong sense of the material and the presence of tools and processes used.
Heini is interested in interconnectedness and how creativity can enhance human experience both on a personal level and collectively.
