Giancarlo Scaglia studied Visual Arts in Lima Peru. The vibrant city of Lima has influenced Scaglia and his work a great deal. As a city, Lima has helped Scaglia find his artistic voice and has made him the artists he is today. Scaglia's interest in re-contextualizing his life events within the field of art, has led him to ask himself the grand questions, "What determines whether an action or gesture is art or not and what is avant-garde?" Scaglia’s work seeks to reinterpret a number of events of armed conflicts that took place in the 1980s and 1990s in Peru.
