Creating rich landscapes that tile together through geometric form and inviting washes of color, Swedish artist Christine Ödlund conjures an atmospheric array of forms and references.
Layering together elements taken from nature with quotations of grids or maps as if documenting both space and time, Ödlund’s work offers a sense of nostalgia in its sensation of a place both lost and found.
Born in Hägersten, Sweden, in 1963, Ödlund studied at the Konstfack University College of Arts from 1992 and 1995 as well as the Royal Institute of Arts in Stockholm from 1995 to 1996. Today she is based in Stockholm and has enjoyed numerous opportunities to showcase her work. Recent exhibitions include her first solo museum exhibition at the Trondheim Museum of Art in Norway in 2014 as well as installations of her work at Lunds Konsthall in Lund, Sweden (2013); the Marrakech Biennale in Morocco (2014); and the eighth Momentum Nordic Biennial of Contemporary Art in Moss, Norway (2015). She also recently released a solo album of her electrostatic museum in late 2016.
