Bronislaw Chojeta was born in 1922, grew up during the 1930s and was influenced by the artistic atmosphere of the time. Internationally this period can be best characterised by the conflict between the world’s foremost political philosophies - Marxist Socialism, Capitalist Democracy, and the Totalitarianism of both Communism and Fascism. The era assumed a sinister turn with the beginning of National Socialism in Germany, and Adolf Hitler’s rise to power in 1933. The decade would culminate in the inset on the Second World War; a political and social tumult that preoccupied not only artists, but large swathes of the world’s population.
