Brian Scott Campbell
1983 · United States
Returning to some of the most primary elements of artistic expression, American artist Brian Scott Campbell recalls the work of many twentieth-century masters, yet his unique approach makes his works all his own.
Working on paper with liquid graphite, Campbell restricts himself to a monochromatic palette that allows the artfulness of his technique to shine. Employing energy akin to the great modernists of the early twentieth century, Campbell embraces disorder in his works as a means to embrace the true power of the creative process.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1983, Campbells earned his BFA from the Columbus College of Art in 2005 and subsequently pursued his MFA at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Having graduated in 2010, Campbell has since embarked on numerous exhibitions of his work. Recent showcased include those at Dutton, New York; Zevitas Marcus, Los Angeles; David Risley Gallery, Copenhagen; and Untitled Miami Beach.
