Anila Rubiku's work is rooted in social worlds. It's the sort of art that makes people aware of the world around them, past, present and future. As she says: "Art cannot change things immediately but it can educate" Her art is not about big words and vast incomprehensible philosophical topics that very few people care about or are really interested in. Her work is about life as it is lived. Thus, what she produces is a breath of fresh air in today's contemporary art world of visual vacuity.
Rubiku's work includes drawings and installations. She has developed a unique way of actively incorporating local people into community projects that combine tradition and art, local history and a contemporary perspective, creating fascinating new hybrids that are full of insights and significant narratives.
