Agne Jonkute – Lithuanian artist, represented in many exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad (Austria, Croatia, China, Denmark, Emyrates, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Latvia, The Netherlands, Niger, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain). A. Jonkute stands out with exceptional artistic thinking, which is reflected with frugal ways of expression. This frugality (for colour, quantity etc.) might be perceived as strict and diligent search (or selection) for substance in order to externalize desired feeling, relation, moment of State. Artist graduated with a Master of Arts degree from Vilnius Academy of Arts, Kaunas Faculty, in 2003. While creating painting and installations, the artist researches humans’ relationship with surrounding. It is interesting for her an interval from starting point where human just has been here but already isn’t. But it is possible to feel traces. This existential nostalgia is especially felt in emotionally strong painting compositions. The relevance of artist’s creative approach and witness of expression are admired by the youngest artist’ generation, which is noticeable in growth of their creation. A. Jonkute inevitably has an impact for further development of Lithuanian contemporary art: while she was lecturing at Vilnius Academy of Arts, Kaunas Faculty (2006-2009), students could ingenuously know positions of this artist. A.Jonkute’s works are in collections of: European Central Bank (Frankfurt, Germany), Modern Art Center (Vilnius, Lithuania), M. K. Ciurlionis National Museum of Art, in private collections: Lithuania, Germany, The Netherlands, Latvia, Norway, Finland, Italy, China, Emyrates.
